Ukrainian Troops close quarters trench assault of Russian Position (2023)

⁣The GoPro footage didn't capture the full picture, but this is the same mission from a different view. Check out the video I posted a few days ago, "Ukraine war trench battle gone bad for Russian soldier," which was a drone view of this mission.

The breakdown:

- A drone discovered a Russian trench with at least three Russians on site. The purpose of the mission was to suppress the enemy and neutralize them. Surrender was out of the question, as all of the Russians who wanted to surrender had already done so. These soldiers were left behind by their comrades and were on a suicide mission to protect a lone trench on long-taken territory.
- The Russians fired a few shots at our Humvees and then disappeared into the dugout. These types of dugouts are tricky, because they are completely covered from the drone's view. Think of them like an ant nest: there are holes in the ground, and you never know from which one the enemy will start shooting.
- The Russians set up firing positions with little to no outside exposure. They could shoot from a tiny hole, and you might never see it coming. The only way to flush them out is with grenades.
- That's exactly what was happening here. The Russians would fire shots from different openings and then change positions.
The drone captured the moment perfectly. One Russian went all Rambo: he walked out of the trench completely, fired multiple shots, and almost shot the guy recording the assault on GoPro.
- Then, if you watch the drone footage, I think he realized that he was outnumbered and surrounded. He looked back and tried to back down, but it was too late. He was mown down by gunfire from multiple directions.

This was a close-quarters battle, and the Russians were outgunned and outmatched. The Russians were too proud to surrender, but in the end, they were too stupid to die for no reason
