Ukraine accuses Russia of destroying dam in western Donetsk

The Ukrainian military has accused Russian forces of destroying a dam along the Mokri Yaly River (Мокрый Ял)  in western Donetsk. The dam was reportedly blown up in an attempt to slow down a Ukrainian counteroffensive in the region.

The destruction of the Mokri Yaly river dam has caused flooding in the area, but Ukrainian forces have continued to make progress in their counteroffensive. They have liberated several villages along the river, including Blahodatne, Neskuchne, Makarivka, and Storozheve.

The Ukrainian deputy defense minister, Hanna Maliar, said on Monday night that three other settlements further west along the frontline had also been taken by Ukrainian forces. These settlements are Novodarivka, Levadne, and Lobkove.

The destruction of the dam and the flooding it caused are a reminder of the human cost of the war in Ukraine. However, the Ukrainian military's continued progress in their counteroffensive is a sign that they are determined to push back against Russian aggression

There were plenty of chatter on Russian Telegram channels about Russia having to retreat from fighting after suffering losses . Some comments about situation included Translated from Russian , and taken from Russian telegram channels:
